Great stories. I don't laugh that often or that hard, but these stories strike so close to home. It helped me look back at the troubles of being a parent & see the humor all around.
Great collection of FUNNY and interesting stories about being a parent. Everyone will find stories they can identify with. Some of the stories are laugh out loud funny, and some will pull at your heartstrings. I think this book would make a wonderful and thoughtful baby shower or Mother's Day Gift.
As a stay-at-home dad for ten years, I thoroughly enjoyed the parenting stories from baby years on up to adulthood. This book holds a special place in my heart because I read all 68 stories to my mother while I sat by her bedside during a lengthy hospital stay. Thank you to the contributing writers for sharing your personal experiences. The editors did an excellent job of selecting and organizing an entertaining collection. Laughter was the best medicine!
Being a Parent is sometimes hilarious. These parents have put down on paper some of the funniest things that have happened to them while parenting. And for those of us who don't have children and/or who had a goofy parent, Pat Nelson and Dahlynn Mc Kowen included a delicious chapter on how it was to be the child of a parent with monumental faux pas!
Kudos to the series! I look forward to reading them all.
I've yet to read every story in this book, but so far each story has either been delightful, hilarious or down right amazing! It's said parenting is the toughest job ever...but parenting is also filled with surprises, some difficult challenges and a few things that will knock your socks off! This book should be read by every parent, every parent-to-be...and most certainly by those now-adult children we raised. Don't miss this one!
I snuggled in bed with my nightly anthology read. Don't know what I expected, but this was a surprise! A lot of parents told the kind of tales you just can't make up! And some of the fathers gave the stories a very different point of view. Each story was pretty mind-expanding. But then, kids and parenting tends to do that, doesn't it? I'm going to give some of these books as gifts. It's just the kind of thing I'd like to receive.
Not all of these stories will have you laughing your head off...but a good share should. And the rest will bring back memories of what it's like to suddenly share your heretofore peaceful home with an infant, a toddler...or a teenager. Or maybe even multiples.
But being a parent doesn't stop when your kids grow up. You don't simply transition over from empty nest to being a grandparent in your fifties...no,parenthood is for a lifetime, from womb to tomb. This terrific anthology thoughtfully includes a chapter of stories on relationships with grown children...and one on adults who find themselves parenting their parents.
For those contemplating parenthood,a word of caution...on't let the smelly tales scare you away...it's more sweet than sour being a parent!
